The grounding technique you need right now...

Believe it or not Reader, social media impacts our nervous system and mental health more than we know and want to accept…

Here is the thing- our brain 🧠 responds so strongly to visual images, and even though we are very smart and have a very complex and talented brain, it can’t necessarily always tell the difference between something that we are looking at on a screen (especially if it’s scary) to something that’s happening to you.

So, when we are scrolling or watching the news, and we see very terrible and heartbreaking images on screen, the visual sensor in our brain may start to talk to the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn part of our brains and say, “OMG, THIS IS HAPPENING TO US RIGHT NOW, WE NEED TO RESPOND!” 😱😰

That’s a natural thing our body does to protect us, and it can easily be triggered by scrolling.

🫨 💭 So, you might ask… How do we take care of ourselves when tragic things happen worldwide, and we have social media 24/7 that can easily trigger us?

🎙️Well, that’s exactly what Dr. Jenny Hughes helps us get thru, in today’s podcast...
